Green Plantain
Plantains are a staple in the tropical food diet. These versatile fruit resemble bananas, but are instead more similar to potatoes in taste and texture and can be sliced and made into chips or even used to make an alcoholic beverage. While yellow plantains are sweeter, green plantains are often starchier and more neutral in taste. All plantains must be steamed, boiled or fried and are an excellent source of potassium and dietary fiber.
